About me
Dr. Rathod graduated from Imperial College London with multiple academic merits and completed his cardiology training in the East of England Deanery. During his training, he was awarded the prestigious British Heart Foundation (BHF) Clinical Research Fellowship, enabling him to investigate potential mechanisms of Long QT syndrome and explore therapeutic strategies. He was a finalist in the Young Investigator Competition at the Heart Rhythm Congress and was awarded a PhD by the University of London.
Following his training, Dr. Rathod gained further international experience in New Zealand and subsequently at the world-renowned Royal Melbourne Hospital in Australia, under the mentorship of Professor Jonathan Kalman.
Upon returning to the UK, he was appointed as a Locum Consultant Electrophysiologist at the Royal Brompton Hospital, where he managed and treated patients with congenital heart disease and channelopathies. He is deeply passionate about medical education and has received multiple commendations for his contributions to postgraduate teaching.
Dr. Rathod currently practices at Darent Valley Hospital and Barts Health NHS Trust as a general cardiologist and electrophysiologist. He has extensive experience managing complex heart rhythm disorders and regularly performs catheter ablations for atrial fibrillation (AF), supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), and ventricular tachycardia (VT). His expertise in intracardiac echocardiography and 3D mapping systems allows many of these procedures to be performed without the use of X-rays.
He is also highly skilled in the implantation of a wide range of cardiac devices, including biventricular devices, leadless pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), subcutaneous ICDs (S-ICDs), and conduction system pacing devices.
Dr. Rathod is accredited as a Certified Cardiac Devices Specialist (CCDS) and a Certified Electrophysiology Specialist by the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE).
