About me

My journey began in China, where I attended medical school before relocating to the UK in 1998 to pursue a Ph.D. in neuroscience at University College London (UCL). After completing my Ph.D., I advanced my medical experience by obtaining the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in anaesthetics and pain medicine in early 2018. Since then, I have been a full-time pain consultant at Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospital (GSTT). In addition, I am available to do extra anaesthetic lists at GSTT.
I am specialised in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic pain conditions, particularly chronic widespread pain and fibromyalgia. I offer investigations, including skin biopsy and cytokine profiles. I have many years' experience in administering systemic lidocaine infusions to patients suffering from fibromyalgia and refractory neuropathic pain. I am interested in post-COVID syndrome, which shares some features with fibromyalgia. I have several years of experience in managing visceral pain and chronic post-surgical pain. The use of cannabis in patients with fibromyalgia remains controversial. I am keen to collect clinical data to assess its safety and efficacy in managing symptoms such as pain and sleep. I am proficient in performing targeted pain procedures such as radiofrequency denervation for lower back pain and epidurolysis for radicular pain.
