About me

I am trained in Adlerian Counselling and Psychotherapy, having undertaken the 3 year training to complete my Diploma in 2010. The course is accredited by ASIIP (Adlerian Society UK and Institute for Individual Psychology), an organisational member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Following this qualification as a counsellor I have undertaken further training and since 2018 I have worked in private practice, achieving my BACP Accreditation in 2023. Prior to 2018, I worked within a drug/alcohol rehab service, and within bereavement and palliative care settings.

Since September 2024, I have undertaken my training as an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) therapist, qualifying in March 2025.

Before my counselling training, I obtained a Degree in Human Biology (BSc Hons) in 1992 and a Diploma in Social Work in 1994, and I have extensive experience built up from working in the social care field for well over 35 years. Additionally I have completed my diploma with Living Well Dying Well, and have been practicing as an End of Life Doula since 2020, and am now working as an assessor with Living Well Dying Well

Areas of interest

I work with adults aged 18 and over, blending my training in a person-centred approach to support people address a wide range of issues. In particular, I have extensive experience and interest in working with:
Anticipatory Grief and Bereavement;
Health related issues including life changing diagnoses and cancer (for the patient or carer / family member);
Carer stress;
Loss (in any form);
Anxiety;
Depression;
Trauma and/or Abuse;
Challenges arising from Neurodiversity or a Disability diagnosis;
Stress and/or work-related issues;
Self-harm and/or suicidal thoughts;
Issues arising from low self-esteem.
