About me
Karthig Rajakulendran is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of hip and knee conditions.
Karthig read medicine at Imperial College London and completed his surgical training on the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital training programme. He then undertook specialist fellowships in primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty, young adult hip surgery and soft tissue knee surgery at Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospitals and Barts Health NHS Trust. He worked as a Consultant orthopaedic surgeon at The Royal London Hospital (a designated Major Trauma Centre and Major Revision Centre) for 2 years, before joining Chelsea and Westminster Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He brings a patient-centred, evidence-based approach to his clinical practice. His areas of interest includes primary and revision hip and knee replacements, robotic-assisted knee replacements, arthroscopic knee surgery and complex lower limb trauma.
Karthig plays an active role in NHS leadership through his position as Service Director for Trauma and Orthopaedics. He is also the clinical lead for the National Joint Registry and National Hip Fracture database. He has an interest in academia and is an honorary senior lecturer at Queen Mary University of London. He has published numerous peer-reviewed papers and book chapters, and helped organise national conferences and courses, in addition to presenting at the national and international stage on topics related to hip and knee pathology.
