About me
I am the Clinical Director of Urology for the South Sector in Greater Glasgow and Clyde [GGC]. I am a Consultant Urological and Robotic Surgeon with a specialist interest in urological malignancy.
I maintain a broad practice in treating males and females with a multitude of urological issues.
Mr Qureshi qualified from Saint Bartholomew’s Medical College, London in 1992. His basic surgical training was based in London and Birmingham. He was successful in obtaining a research grant from the Cancer Research Campaign for which a doctorate in medicine (MD) was awarded from Newcastle University in 2002 based on bladder cancer and artificial neural networks. His higher surgical training was based in North Yorkshire and was appointed as a Consultant Urological Surgeon in Glasgow in 2004. His special interests are in minimally invasive surgery.
In 2007 he was appointed the Lead Clinician for Urological Cancer for the West of Scotland Managed Clinical Network. In 2011 he was appointed Clinical Director for Urology in Glasgow and was responsible for the restructuring of the service between the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital [QEUH] and the Glasgow Royal Infirmary. He has a particular interest in service development and was responsible for the development of robotic urological surgery at the QEUH in 2015. Currently he is the senior member of the renal cancer team in GGC and as well as a general urology practice he performs open, endoscopic, laparoscopic and robotic upper tract surgery.
In his earlier career his research interests were based on the molecular detection of cancer. However currently his interests are in service re-design, improving patient experience and outcomes.
