About me
Welcome, I imagine you're here to find someone to listen to you differently from how friends and family might? As a Person-Centred Counsellor, I believe that the best way to understand yourself and your emotions better, is through human relationship, where you can be absolutely honest, and feel received, without having to worry about what impact that has on the other. Since you're the best expert on yourself, I will give you the space to talk about whatever is on your mind and help you to get in touch with what's really going on for you inside.
When we're having a difficult time, its understandable that we try to ignore or avoid feeling what we're feeling. Unfortunately, as we all know, this can lead to getting stuck in painful situations.
I offer empathic listening and emotion-focused activities to help you begin to turn towards yourself with curiosity and kindness, so that we can really be with what needs to be heard.
This may include working with conflicting parts of you, learning to get really specific about what you're experiencing, and how to be more present with this, to enable resolution of whatever is 'stuck' in your life. This can lead to you feeling calmer, clearer about what you want, and more empowered to change things.
If you'd like to give this a try, please get in touch and we'll see about arranging some sessions. If you're not quite ready to make contact, why not have a look at my website www.catherinelawrencecounselling.co.uk to see more about how I can help you.
Areas of interest
I use a modern Person-Centred Experiential approach to meet a wide range of personal, work-related and relationship problems, including low mood; depression; anxiety; low self-esteem; work-stress; loneliness; identity; communication; family issues; relationship issues; singleness; pregnancy; childlessness; divorce; grief; bereavement and more.
As well as listening to you non-judgementally, I use a range of emotion-focused activities to help you better understand yourself, your relationships, and your responses to others, without giving specific advice to change your behaviour.
By offering you empathic listening, facilitated emotional exploration, and
encouragement, I help you process your emotions, and find emotional meaning, as well as helping you to find your own solutions and develop coping strategies. This may include working with conflicting parts of you, or dealing with 'unfinished business' from past relationships, and helping you find a kinder attitude towards yourself.
