About me
I'm Dr Zahid Sheikh, a Consultant Anaesthetist based in Derby. I have worked at Royal Derby Hospital since 2002 and have over 35 years of experience in anaesthesia. I studied medicine at the Lvov Medical Institute in Ukraine and later completed my specialist anaesthetic training in the United Kingdom.
My special interest is in regional anaesthesia and pain management, particularly using ultrasound-guided techniques that can help patients have surgery with less reliance on general anaesthesia and improve their recovery afterwards.
Alongside my clinical work, I am passionate about teaching and training. I regularly support anaesthetic trainees and help organise educational courses in regional anaesthesia. I have also been involved in national and international teaching programmes, sharing knowledge and helping to develop the next generation of anaesthetists.
I am committed to providing safe, high-quality care and to continually improving patient outcomes through clinical audit, research, and education. My aim is always to ensure that patients feel informed, reassured, and well cared for throughout their treatment journey.
