About me
Dr. Asad Khan is an experienced Consultant Gastroenterologist at Milton Keynes Hospital. With over 15 years of NHS experience and a strong foundation in general medicine, he initially trained overseas as a Consultant Physician, gaining valuable experience in internal medicine before undertaking post-fellowship training in gastroenterology at a leading tertiary institute from 2007 to 2010. Since joining the NHS in 2010, he has built a comprehensive career in gastroenterology and endoscopy.
Dr. Khan has broad expertise in managing a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions, including reflux, Barrett's oesophagus, Eosinophilic Oesophagitis, abdominal pain, bloating, coeliac disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), chronic diarrhoea, chronic constipation, fatty liver, and gastrointestinal infections such as Helicobacter pylori. He is particularly dedicated to patient comfort-focused endoscopy, striving to provide a positive experience while maintaining the highest clinical standards.
Dr Khan provides a broad range of endoscopic procedures and specialises in complex polypectomy (EMR), stricture dilatation, GI bleed management, capsule sponge test, chromoendoscopy, Barrett's surveillance gastroscopy and foreign body removal. In addition to these specialized procedures, he offers a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic services, including colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and gastroscopy. With a meticulous approach and a keen eye for detail, he ensures that patients receive the highest quality endoscopy, with a particular interest in upper GI endoscopy.
Dr. Khan takes pride in being receptive to patients' concerns, building strong rapport, and being thorough in his clinical assessments, always working hard to find answers to their health issues. His patient-cantered approach has consistently earned him positive feedback for being caring, compassionate, and attentive in both outpatient care and endoscopy.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Khan is actively involved in research and quality improvement initiatives, leading the Capsule Sponge service for Barrett's oesophagus screening as part of the Cytoprime 2 trial. As a JAG-accredited colonoscopy trainer and an accredited educational supervisor, he is committed to teaching and mentoring trainees. He also has an interest in MedTech and is a regular follower of medical, financial, health and well-being podcasts.
