About me
Mr Rickaz Raheem is a Consultant Urologist at Bedford Hospital, specialising in minimally invasive urological treatments. He has a particular interest in endourology, laser prostate surgery, urinary stone disease, and functional urology, providing personalised care based on the latest evidence and advances in urological practice.
Mr Raheem qualified in medicine in 2007 and has been practising urology since 2012. He holds a Master of Surgery (ChM) in Urology with Distinction from the University of Edinburgh and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCS Urology). He completed advanced fellowship training in Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP), a modern treatment for benign prostate enlargement.
His expertise includes the assessment and treatment of:
* Benign prostate enlargement (BPH), including HoLEP, TURP, UroLift and advice on newer treatments such as Rezum and Aquablation
* Kidney and ureteric stones, using advanced laser techniques including flexible ureteroscopy
* Urological cancers, including prostate and bladder cancer investigations with transperineal prostate biopsy, flexible cystoscopy and multidisciplinary cancer care
* Female and functional urology, including overactive bladder, urinary incontinence, recurrent urinary tract infections, Botox treatment and Bulkamid injections
* General urological conditions, including male urinary symptoms, erectile dysfunction, urethral strictures, foreskin problems, hydroceles and testicular conditions
Alongside his clinical work, Mr Raheem is actively involved in surgical education and training. He is a GMC-recognised Educational Supervisor, an intercollegiate MRCS examiner, and contributes to postgraduate surgical education through the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and national surgical organisations.
