About me

I am a qualified Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC). Since 2019 I have offered private practice based in Gloucestershire providing 1-1 face to face and online therapy.

As a HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist, I work in the NHS as part of a Specialist Community Mental health team. Previously, I worked in a private residential care home offering therapy to clients with complex mental health diagnosis, learning disability and neurodiversity. This was alongside private practice. I work with working age adults in my NHS work, but I have worked with both adults and children in my private work.

Therapeutically I work in an integrative way, drawing on a range of therapeutic models and tools to individualise therapeutic work to the specific needs and goals of clients. As a Counselling Psychologist I have trained in a number of different modalities and take a Relational approach to my work. My main modalities include Relational, Psychodynamic, Person-Centred, Systemic and Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT). I draw upon additional therapeutic approaches to suit an individual's needs. I am trauma informed and a trained EMDR practitioner (eye movement de-sensitisation reprocessing) which I use extensively in my trauma work.

I have experience of working with a variety of psychological presentations such as anxiety, stress, depression, low self-esteem, emotion regulation difficulties, and relationship difficulties. I have a specialist interest in working with Psychosis as well as complex psychological trauma.

I centre my practice around the therapeutic relationship, to support clients to understand what happened to them was not their fault. That said I aim to support clients to take responsibility to relieve their own suffering. I recognise that reaching out for support takes courage and strength. Therefore, time is needed to build a safe therapeutic connection. I am open, warm and encourage a reciprocal understanding of what has brought a person to therapy.

Areas of interest

Adolescent (16+) and adult mental health (including anxiety, stress, depression, low self-esteem, emotion regulation difficulties, and relationship difficulties. I have a specialist interest in working with Psychosis as well as complex psychological trauma.
