About me

I am a consultant orthopaedic surgeon and was appointed to a substantive NHS post in 2020.

I specialise in knee and hip replacements. My NHS practice is in North Wales, following specialist training in Wales and at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Oswestry. My fellowship experience included the Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre in Exeter, Southmead Major Trauma Centre in Bristol and the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham.

I graduated in medicine from King's College, London in 2005, training at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital. I gained an MSc in Education from Cardiff University in 2013.

In addition to first time total and partial knee replacements I offer regenerative therapies for patients with knee arthritis. I also perform hip replacements and my sub-speciality interest is in revision knee and hip replacements. I am passionate about NHS research and education in Trauma and orthopaedics. I am an honorary clinical senior lecturer at Bangor University and enjoy training the next generation of surgeons from Cardiff and Bangor Universities.

Approach to patient care

My approach to patient care is to follow the results in arthroplasty that are associated with success and apply these to all patients. I like to find out what patients want to do after having joint replacement and get them back to that, whether it is walking without pain or getting up a mountain. I aim for patients to have joint replacements that are 'forgotten'.

Personal interests
Hybrid racing, yoga, surfing, hiking and cycling with his family. I consider myself an extremely active person and know the importance of a healthy active lifestyle. I want to get my patients back to the activities that give them their quality of life.
