About us
I have been a Consultant Surgeon for over 20 years. I have held a large number of senior management roles in my NHS Organisation, such as the Clinical Director of Breast Surgery, Chairman of Theatre Board and Chair of Surgery at the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital. I qualified from the University of Colombo and became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1992. I did my higher surgical training in Wessex and East Anglia (Addenbrookes and Norfolk and Norwich teaching hospitals). I also did a PhD in Cancer Medicine (Oncology) at the University of Southampton (1998) and was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon at L & D in 2001. I have a busy clinical practice in breast and endocrine surgery. I perform benign breast surgery and breast cancer surgery including implant and latissimus dorsi muscle-based immediate reconstructions of the breast. I also see patients with thyroid and parathyroid problems and patients with hernias and other general surgical problems. I am an active Clinical Researcher and have over 60 Peer-Reviewed Publications in breast and endocrine disease and a large number of National and International Presentations. I am also a Teacher and Trainer, and is an Examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS and FRCS Exit Examination in General Surgery) as well as for the UCL and Cambridge Medical Schools.
