About me
I am an Integrative Counsellor working with young people (11+), Adults, and Couples.
Each person is unique, with an individual set of experiences, circumstances, and history. This will inform how you see and feel about yourself and how you would respond to challenging situations and relationships. In creating a safe therapeutic relationship, together we can explore how you can gain control of the situation you face that may feel overwhelming or challenging.
Perhaps self-defeating, learned behaviours are impacting you? It is possible to change your perspective and responses, if that is part of the goals you set for yourself. This is an opportunity to focus on the things that are important to you, no matter what they may seem to others.
We can explore what happened throughout your life, rather than only what is wrong at the moment. By looking at the bigger picture, we can gain more perspective on what brought you to this point in your life.
I am a registered and Accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), as well as the Association for Christian Counsellors (ACC).
My work-related experience includes building
relationships with a diverse range of people. I embrace the themes of freedom, choice, responsibility, and courage, which can be experienced once the anxiety of the givens; mortality, isolation, meaninglessness, and freedom are faced, as stated by Irvin Yalom. Working in the present and facilitating my client to search for 'that something that matters enough to live or die for' and their sense of purpose.
I have worked with a range of presenting issues, including depression, anxiety, eating difficulties, relationship issues, general anxiety disorder, loss and grief, sexuality, trauma, self-harm, and suicide prevention. Whilst a lot of these things can be interlinked with one another, it's about finding what it is like for you and what meaning it holds for you.
I have previously worked in agencies and schools, and currently working in my Private practice.
Counselling enables personal growth and self-awareness and I believe its something we can all benefit from individually and also in our relationsips. I
