About me
I am a Principal Clinical Psychologist with over 18 years of working in the NHS and Ministry of Defence. Since qualifying from Oxford University, I have specialised in Clinical Health Psychology for the last 15 years, primarily with clients who have persistent physical health difficulties (pain &/or fatigue, and various functional neurological conditions, for example Multiple Sclerosis, Adjustment to Amputation and associated Phantom Limb Pain, Trigeminal Neuralgia and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome).
I have worked extensively with clients struggling with a wide variety of difficulties including adjusting to their health difficulties, work related stress, burnout, self-esteem and confidence issues, anxiety, depression, and Trauma (PTSD) related to combat, road traffic accidents & childhood trauma . As a Clinical Psychologist I am highly trained in a range of evidence based therapeutic approaches, which I tailor (where Clinically appropriate) to meet the individual needs of each client. I believe no single approach is right for everyone and so I have trained in a variety of modalities including CBT, EMDR, ACT, CFT, Mindfulness and person-centred approaches amongst others. I work with both adults and young people, individually or in groups offering both time-limited interventions and open-ended sessions, depending on need.
In my current NHS role I'm the Clinical Lead of a Psychology service into two Hospital's Intensive Care Units.
