About me
I am an integrative Counsellor, which in my case, means I can use a mix of several counselling theories, depending on your needs - Systemic, Person Centred, Psychodynamic, Attachment Theory and Transactional Analysis (TA), to name a few.
Counselling (Adults) - I am happy to work with you on anything that is on your mind. Whilst I have a variety of therapeutic options for how we might proceed we will start by being comfortable in a compassion, warm space as we explore, whatever has brought you to therapy Sometimes, just talking and feeling heard, in a safe, supportive space, can be enough but when it's not, as an integrative Counsellor, I have a lot of therapeutic tools with which we can work on issues from the past, what's happening now or any fears you might have about the future.
Relationship Counselling / Couples Counselling - Whether you are having little niggles, awful rows, feel disconnected, struggling with change or considering leaving the relationship, counselling can help. When you both want it, the aim will be to build stronger, healthier relationships. If you're not sure, improving your communication will help, whether you decide to reconnect, reconcile or leave.
Counselling is especially useful to relationships if you are just not sure what it is that you want from each other or the relationship - as well as improving your communication, you can learn negotiation skills with each other, if you can see and appreciating the other's viewpoint, rather than assuming they are being mean (even if you don't agree with them!). This allows you more options to reconnect or reconcile or even work on separating / ending the relationship, in a more (child) friendly way.
Relationship counselling can help any adult relationship - parent and adult child, adult siblings, friends and workmates as well as couples - if not sure, ask me - no obligation.
How will I do it? I'd work systemically with you so, at the first session, to give us time to explore the difficulties and goals, this will an extended session (1.5 hrs) with you both.
It's standard practice to then have an individual (1 hr) session with each of you on your own and then a fourth session with you (you have the option of 1hr or 1.5 hr from this point), back as a couple unless it's not safe to proceed at this time. This might be due an ongoing affair, anger issues, to DA, DV, drugs and / or alcohol issues.
Any questions, please ask me.
