About me
Mr Jan Dmitrewski is a seasoned consultant surgeon now working full time in private practice in Birmingham and in Wolverhampton.
His clinical interests include treatment of gallstones (laparoscopic cholecystectomy), hernia repair (inguinal, femoral, umbilical and epigastric) and general surgery. With 24 years of experience as a consultant surgeon, he has performed over 1400 laparoscopic cholecystectomies and a similar number of hernia repairs.
Mr Dmitrewski graduated from the Warsaw Medical School in Poland in 1984. After coming to the UK in 1989, he undertook surgical training in the West Midlands. He obtained his FRCS (Glasgow) in 1991. His training also included a period of research, and in 1997 he was awarded an MD by the University of Birmingham. He was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon in 1999 and retired from his NHS post at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham in May 2022. He is also an examiner for the Intercollegiate Specialty Board in General Surgery.
Mr Dmitrewski is married to a consultant surgeon and they have grown-up children. He enjoys gardening, travelling and skiing.
