About me

Hello and a warm welcome. I'm Jane, a BACP accredited psychotherapeutic counsellor, EMDR/trauma therapist and supervisor. Sessions are in person in Surbiton or online to any area in the UK. I embody an, accepting, non-judgemental and individualised approach combining varied modalities to offer expert and effective therapy, supporting you through times of distress and encouraging personal growth. I passionately believe we are not defined by painful childhood or adult experiences and we can live a full and enriching life with the right professional and benevolent support.

There are many reasons for seeking therapy and as an experienced counsellor, I have found that these reasons are often incredibly painful. Perhaps you are holding onto distress from a difficult childhood, grieving the loss of a meaningful relationship, or wondering what your purpose is. You may have been hiding your pain for a while and managing daily life well but inside, feel exhausted and alone from living in survival mode. As your therapist, I can help you to make sense of the feelings experienced and enable you to see difficulties in a more manageable way.

My approach

I take an integrative approach to counselling, blending psychodynamic, humanistic, and cognitive behavioural therapies and incorporating trauma informed theory to support clients who have lived through distressing experiences. I champion a relational approach, as research shows a trusting and authentic relationship between client and counsellor is the most important factor for effective therapy. I will witness, validate and empathise with your unique lived experience and support you with the daily challenges of being an imperfect human. Progress is the goal, not perfection.

EMDR/Trauma informed

If impacted with debilitating symptoms from distressing memories or suffering with PTSD, I am EMDR Academy trained to offer Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) to process trauma and find freedom from flashbacks and triggers.

My career history includes counselling NHS key workers throughout the pandemic as Counselling and Wellbeing Lead and supporting children and young people with autism and learning difficulties as a speech and language therapist. Neuro-diverse clients welcome.

Please do get in touch, I'm very easy to talk to! No question is 'silly' and I offer a free 20-minute phone call to discuss your unique requirements with no obligation to proceed with therapy.

Areas of interest

I specialise in childhood emotional, verbal, narcissistic or sexual abuse, childhood and adult trauma and the impact this has on the present day. Often resulting in loneliness, a lost sense of self, disempowerment, depression, anxiety, co-dependent behaviours, low self-esteem, low confidence, parenting struggles, and difficulties with close, intimate relationships with family, friends or romantic partners.
