About me
Mr Jake Timothy is a highly experienced Consultant Neurosurgeon who has been associated with Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust since 1996. Although he has now stepped back from his full‑time NHS role, he continues to hold an honorary contract and provides specialist support to consultant colleagues, particularly for complex neurosurgical and spinal cases.
With extensive training across leading UK centres and more than two decades of consultant‑level experience, Mr Timothy is widely recognised for his contribution to spinal surgery innovation and his leadership in multidisciplinary patient care.
- Training & Background
Mr Timothy trained at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School in London before undertaking neurosurgical training at King's Hospital, London. He went on to complete an MD thesis and, in 2002, became the first neurosurgeon to be appointed National Spinal Fellow in Leeds.
His early and advanced training established the foundation for a career dedicated to both clinical excellence and surgical innovation.

Throughout his career, Mr Timothy has introduced several pioneering spinal surgical techniques to the Yorkshire region, including:

He was awarded clinical excellence recognition for establishing the region's vertebroplasty service and continues to be involved in specialist spinal care pathways.
