About me

I am genuine, warm, compassionate, and straight forward in my therapeutic style. I offer a safe space for clients, where we can work together to develop a shared understanding of their difficulties, and to empower them to overcome these. I am dedicated to reducing psychological distress, and promoting well-being.

I have had experience working across NHS services, working jointly with partnership organisations, including Health Improvement Scotland and the National Education body for Scotland (NES), in my commitment to support the development of best practice and evidenced based interventions. I am currently a Consultant Clinical Psychologist within the NHS.

I have extensive experience working with acute presentations related to experiences of psychosis, with young people aged 16+, adults, and their families. I am experienced in assessing and treating a range of difficulties, including: mood and anxiety disorders, adjustment disorders, interpersonal difficulties, cognitive and learning difficulties; complex trauma and PTSD; substance abuse, and neurodevelopmental difficulties (ASD). This necessitates key skills in effective engagement, assessment, and formulation driven interventions to support service users and their families.

I draw from a wide-range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches to create specific interventions tailored to individual need, providing an integrative approach. These approaches include: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Behavioural Family Therapy (BFT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Systemic Therapy. I work in line with psychological therapy guidelines, including the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines, the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) and The Psychological Therapies 'Matrix' (NHS Education Scotland).
