About me
Miss Joanna Cook is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with over 20 years of experience supporting women through a wide range of gynaecological and pregnancy-related concerns. Patients commonly see her for menstrual disturbances, pelvic pain, PCOS, menopause symptoms, and recurrent or late pregnancy loss.
She works at Ipswich Hospital, where she leads acute gynaecology and early pregnancy services, including care for women experiencing miscarriage or pregnancy loss. Joanna understands how distressing and isolating this can be, and is known for her thoughtful, compassionate approach at what is often a very difficult time.
Joanna takes an individualised, evidence-based approach to care. She focuses on careful assessment, clear explanations and realistic plans that feel manageable and supportive, particularly when symptoms have been ongoing or when patients are seeking answers after loss.
Alongside her clinical work, Joanna is closely involved in training and supporting the next generation of doctors. Her background in research, including a PhD focused on preterm birth mechanisms, reflects her commitment to understanding women's health in depth and continually improving care.
In clinic, Joanna is known for her calm, empathetic manner. She takes time to listen and ensures patients feel heard, respected and supported, whether they are seeking reassurance, answers or ongoing care.
Outside of work, Joanna lives in Suffolk with her husband and two daughters and enjoys family life in the countryside.
