About me
Mr Vikas Acharya is a substantive Consultant Rhinologist, Facial Plastic and ENT Surgeon working at The Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals within UCLH in London. His higher surgical ENT training was within the North Thames London rotation and he undertook a nationally competitive Post-CCT fellowship in advanced Rhinology and Facial Plastic Surgery at the Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals. Additionally, he was awarded two separate, nationally competitive fellowship training prizes for hands-on advanced rhinology and facial plastic surgical training in 2023-2024.
He is experienced in treating all aspects of nose and sinus diseases and disorders and provides expert consults for all Rhinology and Facial Plastic Surgery referrals/presentations to his care. He works with a fantastic and highly experienced multi-disciplinary team to provide high quality, patient-centred and focused care. He is a proud member of several multi-disciplinary teams in his specialist NHS practice, where collaboratively they aim to support and help manage highly complex diagnoses and conditions to help patient care pathways and treatment journeys. These include the joint medical-surgical rhinology team, facial function team/clinic, craniofacial team and the complex nasal vasculitis MDT.
Research and evidence based practice is integral to the care Mr Acharya provides, as such he is regularly involved in local and national audit, research and collaborative projects. He has over 40 peer reviewed publications and has presented at over 60 national and international meetings through oral and poster presentations, including receiving several prizes.
He has a passion for medical and surgical education and often organises and teaches on various healthcare courses for medical students, junior doctors, surgical trainees and various healthcare professionals. This was solidified and enhanced when he completed a Masters in Medical Education part-time, whilst working as a foundation doctor. He is a member of the academy of medical educators, a fellow of the higher education authority and a member of the faculty of surgical educators.
