About me
Hi, my name is Cara, and I am currently offering therapeutic interventions with adults online, using zoom. I am a chartered and registered Clinical Psychologist. I understand that coming to therapy is a very personal experience, and so I adapt the intervention I offer according to individual presenting needs, goals, and wishes. I offer a very collaborative therapeutic approach, recognising that you are the expert of your experience. I seek to understand the wider sociocultural and environmental context of the people I work with, to examine how such factors impact presentation.
My training as a clinical psychologist means that I can draw from a wide range of therapeutic models to best fit the individual, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapeutic techniques, trauma-focused interventions and third-wave approaches like ACT. I draw on psychodynamic principles, systemic ideas, mindfulness based principles and compassion-focused techniques, and I use an integrative approach.
I have years of experiencing working in the NHS in a variety of settings, as well as privately, with a range of presentations, including mood / anxiety presentations, trauma, chronic pain, birth trauma and loss. I have worked with a range of ages, genders, ethnic backgrounds, and I am a specialist in working with neurodiverse individuals, and am neuroaffirming in my approach, making adaptions according to specific needs.
In terms of what to expect from therapy, we will start by unpicking and exploring your difficulties together, with a view of enabling you to understand yourself better and to begin to apply different strategies or ideas, to bring about meaningful change.
I can offer short and longer term therapy. I am fully accredited by the HCPC. I abide by the ethical frameworks of good practice.
