Dr Reza Hajhosseiny is a Consultant Cardiologist and Consultant in Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at the Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and King's College London. His expertise lies in advanced multimodality imaging of the heart, using cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence-enabled techniques in Echocardiography, Cardiovascular CT, and Cardiovascular MRI. This comprehensive multimodality imaging approach enables precise diagnosis and expert management of complex cardiac conditions such as coronary artery disease, heart failure, cardiomyopathies, and valvular heart disease.
Dr Hajhosseiny graduated from Guy's, King's and St Thomas' School of Medicine, earning multiple distinctions and prizes for academic excellence. He subsequently undertook highly competitive and prestigious combined clinical and academic postgraduate training programmes across London's foremost institutions. His training included eight years of tertiary-level education in general cardiology and advanced cardiovascular imaging at the renowned Hammersmith Hospital Cardiothoracic Centre, part of the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
Dr Hajhosseiny further completed a three-year fellowship in Cardiovascular MRI and a PhD in Cardiology at King's College London and Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, home to the UK's largest dedicated cardiovascular MRI Centre. His subspecialty training was complemented by a two-year fellowship in advanced Cardiovascular CT at the world-famous Royal Brompton Hospital, gaining unparalleled cross-sectional imaging experience in coronary artery disease, adult congenital heart disease, and structural heart intervention.
With a dedication to delivering bespoke, patient-centred care, Dr Hajhosseiny's practice combines clinical excellence with the latest advancements in cardiac imaging, ensuring the highest standard of personalised treatment for each individual.
Dr Hajhosseiny also has a passion for clinical research and innovation, with over 15 years of academic research experience at Imperial College London and King's College London. His work focuses on the non-invasive assessment of coronary artery disease and atherosclerosis using Cardiac CT and MRI. His doctoral research, funded through competitive academic awards from the British Heart Foundation, National Institute for Health Research, and Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, pioneered free-breathing 3D whole-heart coronary magnetic resonance angiography and multi-parametric myocardial tissue characterisation.
Dr Hajhosseiny's research contributions have resulted in more than 50 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals, including Nature Cardiology, JACC, and JACC: Cardiovascular Imaging, alongside authoritative chapters in the Oxford Textbook of Clinical Nephrology and Oxford Specialist Handbooks in Cardiology.
He has been honoured with the Journal of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Gold Star Reviewer Award for consecutive years and was shortlisted as an SCMR Early Career Award Finalist in 2021. Dr Hajhosseiny regularly delivers key lectures at national and international meetings and serves as faculty for both the Imperial Valve and Cardiovascular Course and the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, reflecting his strong commitment to advancing cardiovascular medicine through both research and education.
