About me

Mr Shiaam Thava MBBS MRCOG is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist working at Princess Royal University Hospital. Having completed the latter years of his training there, he subsequently went onto obtain a substantive consultant post.

He is friendly, professional, down to earth and relishes the opportunity to form a strong rapport with his patients. Mr Thava completed his medical training at Barts and The London Medical school in 2007, he then went onto complete his specialist training in the Kent and South London area. His interests include perinatal mortality, benign gynaecology, colposcopy, and complex tertiary menopause.

Mr Thava is listed as a specialist by the British Menopause Society (BMS), and since completing his advanced training modules, has gone onto become a BMS trainer for those seeking training in complex menopause care.

With specialist interests in the menopause, premature ovarian insufficiency, benign gynaecology and colposcopy, he is a member of the British Menopause Society, the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology and the British Society of Gynaecology Endoscopy. Mr Thava has completed a postgraduate certificate in medical education and has utilised this in taking on the role of block lead for human development for 2nd year medical students. Also, since the latter half of 2023, he has taken on the College tutor role � which means he oversees training, education, recruitment and is responsible for the well being of the department's junior doctors.
