About me
Dr Patrick O'Halloran is a Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine, based in the Midlands. He currently holds positions at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre, Stanford Hall and at the UK Sports Institute. He is also the Team Doctor for Gloucester Rugby.
He is passionate about musculoskeletal medicine and enjoys his role in working collaboratively with patients to help them do more of the things they love, whether that be high-level sport or recreational pursuits. He has experience in a variety of sports, having previously taken on roles with British Gymnastics World Class Programme, Wolverhampton Wanderers, The Football Association, Worcester Warriors and the Rugby Football Union.
He has also been fortunate to be part of Team GB at the Paris Olympics 2024 and at the 2023 European Games as well as Team England at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 and Trinbago 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games. Outside of sport, he has also been a medical consultant to the Royal Ballet Company based at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
He trained at the University of Birmingham and Queen Mary's University of London before beginning his career in Birmingham and then moving to Bath to train as a GP. Subsequently, he returned to the Midlands to undertake Higher Specialist Training in Sport and Exercise Medicine.
During this period, he undertook a PhD at the University of Birmingham in the field of Sport Related Concussion, an area in which he continues to have an active research interest.
