About me
I am a fully qualified and accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist with current DBS Certification and Disclosure Scotland PVG Membership, and for over 25 years have specialised in working creatively and successfully with children, young people and young adults. I have worked within the NHS, creating counselling clinics in Scotland for children and young people to access via their GP Surgery; set up counselling services in primary schools and Further Ed; provided counselling sessions to Crisis Agencies, and have a private practice. I know that positive change is possible, and collaborating with my clients to understand what helps, is the first step to recovery. My practice offers clients a calm pause and a place where they can feel hope and listened to with compassion and respect.
My values are set in honesty, kindness and acceptance, and I understand there is no meaningful work without trust - which has to be earned and felt.
Areas of interest
I specialise and have specific training in working with trauma; general anxiety disorder (GAD) and anxiety issues; ADHD; depression; grief and loss; attachment styles; relationships; critical and harmful belief systems. I have psychodynamic training and incorporate that ethos alongside an integrative, co-creative approach to establish individual strategies and techniques which are very helpful for all my clients and have no age barriers.
Although I specialise in working with children from the age of 4 years, teenagers and young adults, I currently have clients with an age range from 6 to 60 years old.
