About me

My name is Amanda Reading, and I am an Integrative Psychotherapist. This means I can support you with recognising your current struggles and finding the root cause of the issue. Often, our past influences the present and our beliefs about ourselves. Outdated attitudes can bring chaos into our relationships and prevent personal growth. Thankfully, humans are adaptable, and our minds are flexible. With a safe space and professional guidance, you can heal your relationship with yourself and the world around you.

With 25 years of experience, I can confidently support various needs and provide diverse education. I began my career by offering intensive therapeutic interventions for parents with long-term mental health issues. Including bi-polar, personality disorders, childhood trauma, domestic abuse and trauma. These individual struggles opened my eyes to the community demand and informed the regular group workshops I ran, including parenting groups, domestic violence groups and community support groups. The more I learned, the more I could offer back to the community. My 'Parental Advice' classes were a popular place to express frustrations and find inspiration.

I co-operate with a local psychiatric hospital and support their complex clientele. I welcome individuals with depression, anxiety, eating disorders and addiction. I can adapt the sessions to neuro-diverse needs and support clients of all ages. I am proud to say that local Children and Adolescents Mental Health Service users (CAMHS) have used my services.

Many of my clients struggle with the long-term effects of early childhood trauma. The sense of loss and grief can follow them wherever they go. For those willing to face their past, I can offer Reprocessing (EMDR) sessions to ease the symptoms and bring balance.

My British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Accreditation (BACP) recognises my high professional standards and ethical principles. I can confidently liaise with Education Providers, Special Education Needs Services (SEN), Occupational Health Departments, General Practices, and Psychiatric Consultants.
