About me
I am a HCPC Registered Counselling Psychologist.
My own identity as a British South Asian plays a big part of what inspired me to venture into the profession of counselling psychology I have always maintained a curiosity with the complexity of the mind and the different cultural perceptions around mental health and psychological distress. Understanding the impact of aspects such as heritage and culture, and bringing a culturally informed perspective to my practice forms a core part of how I work.
I strive to foster a safe and non-judgemental space for individuals, where they feel able to talk freely about their experiences. I endeavour to support others to work towards personal growth, develop resilience and feel empowered to break free from recurring patterns, to create lasting meaningful change. I have a deep passion and commitment to enable people to feel heard, gain a better understanding of the self and navigate lifes challenges.
I have experience of working within NHS mental health services, with a specialism in supporting adults experiencing severe mental health difficulties, specifically personality disorders and psychosis. In addition, my experience has rendered me highly skilled to support individuals to address a range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, anger, interpersonal/relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, OCD, trauma, sleep difficulties, and bipolar disorder. Through offering a compassionate, collaborative approach, my aim is to help others achieve their goals by creating a personalised treatment plan. This includes utilising a therapeutic approach which is tailored to address their individual needs, primarily through adopting an integrative approach. I have experience of delivering a range of different therapeutic interventions including CBT, CBTp, psychodynamic approaches, person-centred therapy, systemic therapy, ACT and relational approaches including CAT.
Outside of my profession, I have a keen interest in travelling and spending time in nature. I enjoy going hiking and for long walks in the countryside, visiting places within and outside of the UK and immersing myself in different cultures and communities. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends, and have a passion for running.
