About us
I am Alex Nairn, HCPC-registered Physiotherapist (PH123656) and co-founder of Health by Science, a physio-led movement clinic at 100 Giles Street, Leith, Edinburgh. I hold an MSc in Physiotherapy and a BSc in Sports Science, and I have over a decade of experience treating adults with musculoskeletal injury, persistent pain, post-surgical limitations, and sports injuries.
At Health by Science, I work alongside HCPC-registered physiotherapists Stuart Maytham (PH108811) and Niamh Hay (PH151165), a team of S&C coaches led by UKSCA-accredited Ross Marwick, and NCPS-registered counsellor Lucy Wren. This means clients with complex presentations, where rehabilitation, strength coaching, and mental health support overlap, can be cared for under one roof.
I deliver online physiotherapy for Bupa members across the UK, with in-clinic appointments in Edinburgh. Initial assessments are 60 minutes; follow-ups are typically 30 to 45 minutes. Self-referral is accepted; authorisation should be confirmed with Bupa before your first appointment.
