About me
Mr. Richard Molloy qualified from University College Cork Medical School in1986 and commenced his surgical training in University College Hospital, Cork, Ireland. He subsequently was appointed as a Research Fellow in Surgical Immunology at the Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston and Harvard Medical School, USA. This work formed the basis of his MD thesis. He completed Higher Surgical training in Glasgow and Edinburgh before being working as as a Clinical Fellow in Colorectal Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland Ohio, USA. During this time he gained further experience in complex colorectal surgery with particular focus on surgery for Inflammatory Bowel disease, ileal pouch surgery and laparoscopic colorectal surgery.
He was appointed Consultant Surgeon to the Western Infirmary and Gartnavel General Hopsital Glasgow in 1997 and subsequently at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. He has recently retired from his NHS post but continues to work in the Private sector at Nuffield Health Glasgow and RossHall hospital Glasgow.
He was peviously a course faculty member for training other consultants and junior surgeons in laparoscopic colorectal surgery at training centres in Dundee, Newcastle and Hamburg.
He has published widely and is also co-author/editor of three recent textbooks on General and Colorectal Surgery.
