About me
I am an experienced HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist and a BPS Chartered Psychologist who has been in qualified practice for over ten years. I hold an Associate Fellowship of the British Psychological Society and I am on the BPS Register of Applied Psychological Practice Supervisors.
Following a career in management consultancy and business development, I began training in Psychology in 2006 and qualified as a Counselling Psychologist in 2015. During my training, I worked with individual adults in several NHS settings including a talking therapy service, a GP practice, and a secondary care psychotherapy service. I have volunteered in the charity sector (MIND, Parentline) and in the education sector (working with parents in an Early Years' Children's Centre).
Upon qualifying as Counselling Psychologist in 2015, I established an independent practice in the City of London and in North London. I now run a practice online and I continue to work with individual adults. I receive referrals through a range of insurance providers, as an Associate of Psych Health, and via word of mouth.
Alongside my work as a practitioner, I have been working as an academic and researcher in Higher Education since 2014, which has included training and supervising people to become Counselling Psychologists. More recently I have held departmental leadership positions in the HE context.
I offer a client-centred approach to therapy that focuses on how you understand your difficulties and what you would most like help with. I will normally suggest an initial couple of sessions to assess this together. I am trained in several therapy approaches and we can discuss and agree what would work best for you before we begin working together.
For example, you may have a sense for whether you are looking to gain understanding or you need to make a change, and whether you are primarily in need of support or of challenge at this time. The therapy may combine a range of practical solutions within a broader exploration of your life history and how you would like to move forward. It is often possible to make a small change that makes a big difference.
