About me
EMDR Consultant | BABCP Accredited CBT Psychotherapist | Dynamic Interpersonal Therapist (DIT) | CBT Supervisor
I am an EMDR Consultant, BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, Dynamic Interpersonal Therapist and CBT Supervisor, with over 18 years' experience in mental health and more than 13 years specialising in psychological therapies.
I trained at leading institutions including the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (King's College London), the Anna Freud Centre, UCL and the University of Essex.
Alongside my clinical work, I have extensive experience in teaching, training and supervision in both Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and EMDR. I have lectured on postgraduate psychotherapy programmes and have taught CBT across a number of UK universities. I have trained therapists nationally in CBT and EMDR, working with psychologists, psychiatrists and psychotherapists across a range of NHS and specialist services. I have also delivered national training in PTSD and Complex PTSD and co-authored a group-based PTSD treatment protocol that has been implemented across NHS services and used internationally.
Supervision is a central part of my work. I provide clinical supervision in CBT and EMDR for therapists, psychologists and psychiatrists, including supervision for accredited EMDR practitioners across several NHS trusts and specialist services. I have supported many clinicians through accreditation processes and advanced practice in both CBT and EMDR, and I continue to receive supervision myself from a renowned professor to ensure my work remains aligned with current research and best practice.
I have held senior leadership roles within NHS Talking Therapies services for many years, including Clinical Lead positions within one of the largest providers in the country, overseeing multidisciplinary teams of over 600 psychotherapists. I also provide consultancy to companies providing NHS services, offering expertise in CBT, EMDR and psychotherapy service development.
Clinically, I specialise in trauma and complex presentations. I am an Accredited EMDR Practitioner and Consultant, with significant experience working with complex PTSD, developmental and attachment-based trauma, and psychosexual trauma.
I also work within NHS specialist services supporting individuals experiencing Persistent Physical Symptoms, including chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS/ME), functional neurological disorder (FND), fibromyalgia and chronic pain, with a focus on the interaction between physical health and psychological processes.
I have extensive experience delivering CBT for a wide range of difficulties, including OCD, generalised anxiety disorder, depression and social anxiety.
In addition to CBT and EMDR, I am trained in Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT), a psychodynamic approach that focuses on identifying and addressing recurring patterns in relationships.
I have published several papers relating to CBT and PTSD, as well as EMDR-related work.
I am based in Leigh-on-Sea and offer both face-to-face sessions in a centrally located, professional clinic (with parking) and online therapy. The clinic is a dedicated clinical setting and not a home-based practice.
