About me

I am an experienced Consultant Respiratory Physician, who believes in providing the best possible care for my patients. I take time to achieve a sympathetic understanding of their issues. I am thorough in my clinical approach. My outpatient practice covers all aspects of respiratory medicine but I can provide particular expertise in the investigation and management of cough and breathlessness. In addition I have special interests in interstitial lung disease, respiratory infection such as bronchiectasis, lung cancer, asthma, COPD and obstructive sleep apnoea.

I qualified from The London Hospital Medical College in 1991 and completed postgraduate training in the North West Thames region, including at the Royal Brompton, Harefield and Charing Cross Hospitals. I completed my research on Bronchiolitis Obliterans Syndrome (a form of chronic rejection) following lung transplantation at Harefield and Royal Brompton Hospitals which resulted in my MD postgraduate degree from Imperial College, London.

I was appointed as a Consultant Respiratory and General Physician in 2003 at West Hertfordshire Hospitals (St Albans, Watford and Hemel Hempstead Hospitals) NHS Trust and the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Trust.

My current clinical governance and teaching interests include interstitial lung disease and the management of pneumonia. I run general respiratory medical clinics and weekly clinics in interstitial lung disease (pulmonary fibrosis). I am a core member of the lung cancer MDT team at West Herts Hospitals.

My private practice is based at Spire Harpenden, Spire Bushey, Bishops Wood Hospital and Harefield Hospitals.
