About me
I first trained in Psychology at the University of London, and later qualified with an honors degree in Medicine from the Royal Free Hospital, London. I went on to receive my specialist ophthalmology training at MoorFields Eye Hospital, in the North Thames rotation from 1992-2001. Following on from this, I obtained a fellowship in retina conditions, at the Moorfields Eye Hospital and was appointment a consultant eye surgeon at Croydon University Hospital shortly after, in 2002.
I began a new Consultant position in 2014 appointed as Medical Retina and cataract trainer and surgery at Imperial Health care Trust
The Western Eye Hospital and Charing Cross .
I am actively involved in working in Eye Casualty for West London dealing with all acute cases of eye emergencies this means I have exposure to a wide range of different pathologies
I was the lead for eye casualty for some years
I have achieved a number of clinical excellence awards for my work in the NHS .
I enjoy teaching cataract surgery which is very challenging . I have performed over 25 thousand cataracts my audited results show a complication rate of less than 0.04 percent national average is 4 percent .
I have performed in addition thousand of lasers for retina and glaucoma and for capsular opacity. I am a doctor who puts patient communication and care as a priority and hope that my patients will see that I am always there for them when they need me
Over 26 years of training and Continous professional development I have probably come across most pathologies however being the lead of an extremely busy casualty means that I am always kept on my toes !
Aided by my degree in Psychology, I am aware of the different emotions patients needing surgery and other treatments for eye conditions may experience. My knowledge of psychology enables me to provide a tailored treatment plan with the correct support for each patient. I am now very accustomed to treating anxious patients who need surgery or laser. My aim is to provide each patient with as much clear and relevant, patient-friendly information as possible for their condition.
