About me

I'm Dr Jessica Staniford, a clinical psychologist, with over 10 years' experience in various psychology services (NHS and private), supporting adults experiencing distress.

I am skilled in helping people who are struggling with difficult emotions (such as anxiety, low mood, shame and anger) as well as trauma and relational difficulties. I also enjoy working frequently with clients who are struggling with perfectionism, demanding high-standards, or self-criticism, which is impacting upon their wellbeing at home and/or at work.

I am passionate about offering a service that is highly respectful, compassionate, non-judgemental, and tailored to meet your individual needs. I therefore adapt my approach to meet you where you are at on your journey, whether this is the first time you have reached out for support, or you have had therapy before.

It can be daunting to ask for help, but I hope that my relaxed and warm approach will help to put you at ease, so that we can build a trusting therapeutic relationship and work together to make sense of what has happened to you in your life. This will help us to understand what you are currently struggling with, and how we can put things into place to overcome some of these challenges, and move you in the direction you are aiming for.

When we work together, we will use your expertise of your own life, and I will draw upon different psychological models to help us understand your life story. The approaches I draw on include EMDR (Eye Movement, Desensitisation and Reprocessing), CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), schema, CFT (Compassion Focused Therapy), and DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy).
