About me

I am a practising NHS Physician with speciality training in respiratory, general and sleep medicine.

Through the South West Sleep Clinic I mainly see people with cough, breathlessness and breathing problems, sleep disorders, insomnia and snoring. I see the full range of general medicial specialties at Musgrove in my NHS practice.
I offer a number of specialist services including sleep studies, bronchoscopy and thoracoscopy for pleural effusions.

Research interests

My major research area is in cardiovascular risk in sleep apnoea but I have contributed to over 20 studies as Principal Investigator. These cover a diverse range of Sleep and Lung conditions. I support both academic and comercial studies within the National Institues of Health Research portfolio.

National Institute of Health Research RFPB grant 2017 317,000 for a trial into mild sleep apnoea and withdrawal from CPAP.
British Lung Foundation Junior Researcher Travel Awaard. ResMed unrestricted research grant Â£100,000. British SLeep Apnoea Association Research Grant Â£10000, WLCRN flexibility and sustainability grant Â£8500

Publications

I have published over 30 peer reviewed articles in a range of journals including the Lancet, Thorax and The American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. I review article submissions from a number of Sleep and Respiratory Journals.

Courses offered to GPs

I provide a regular talk to GPS and patients from a a range of subjects covering respiratory medicine, sleep medicine and allergies.
