About me

Dr Stephen Murphy is a Consultant Neurologist at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and honorary Neurologist at Charing Cross Hospital Imperial Hospital NHS trust. He is also an attending on the Hyper Acute Stroke Service (HASU) at Charing Cross Hospital/Imperial.

After finishing his Neurology training he completed a headache and stroke fellowship at the National Hospital of Neurology and Neurosurgery at Queen Square.

He has authored numerous papers and book chapters in the field of clinical Neurology and Stroke and presented his work internationally.

He was awarded a PhD in Clinical Neuroscience in 2016 for his work entitled Markers of Platelet Activation and Function and their relationship to Cerebral Micro-Embolic Signals in Symptomatic and Asymptomatic Carotid Stenosis and a further Masters in 2020 for his work on Profiles of von Willebrand factor antigen, von Willebrand factor propeptide and ADAMTS13 activity in patients with carotid stenosis and their relationship with Cerebral Micro-Embolic Signal status. He has presented his work internationally He has a broad interest in in all neurological problems including headaches, limb weakness/numbness, movement disorders, balance problems and a specialist interest in Stroke and Transient Ischaemic Attacks (TIA).
