About me
I am a fully qualified and accredited therapist specialising in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). With years of experience within the NHS working with individuals facing a range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions, my goal is to support you in creating meaningful change and finding lasting relief.
CBT is a highly effective approach for identifying and transforming negative thought patterns that impact your emotions and behaviours. By learning practical skills, we can work together to enable you to break free from unhelpful habits and create healthier coping strategies.
As an EMDR therapist, I help individuals process past trauma in a safe and structured way, facilitating healing and growth. EMDR is particularly effective for those having experienced distressing events and trauma, and are seeking relief from lingering emotional pain.
I believe in a compassionate, collaborative approach tailored to your unique needs, empowering you to move forward with confidence and clarity. Whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma or simply feeling stuck, I am here to support you on your journey towards healing and personal growth.
I have worked in the NHS for approximately 30 years, initially as an Occupational Therapist, but in the last 14 years as a CBT therapist working within NHS talking therapies service. I continue to work within this service on a part time basis.
Areas of interest
I have extensive experience in providing evidence- based therapy for Depression, low self-esteem, Phobias, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (excessive worry), Health anxiety, OCD, Panic disorder, Social anxiety, PTSD and complex trauma.
Therapy is a collaborative experience, and we will work together to establish the main problem area/s and the best treatment pathways, utilising CBT and/or EMDR techniques.
I have also attended training in Polyvagul theory, Mindfulness, Compassion Focus Therapy (CFT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and can incorporate some of these techniques into therapy depending on your individual needs. Therapy will always be person centre and collaborative.
