About me

Dr Charlotte Morris is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist based in Cheshire. She has over 20 years experience of working in adult community mental health and inpatient settings within the NHS and the private sector.

Charlotte has a particular interest in working with clients who experience difficulties in their relationships with others, as well as struggles with their relationship with themselves. This may impact on clients' personal or professional relationships, as well as how they feel about themselves, leading to low self-worth, self-criticism, anxiety and low mood. Charlotte is experienced in working with clients who have had traumatic life events and upsetting experiences within relationships. Experiences of trauma may have resulted in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), dissociation or other distressing mental health problems. At the heart of Charlotte's work is the development of a safe, honest and supportive therapeutic relationship, where clients can explore their experiences in a non-judgmental space and work towards change.

Charlotte is registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC). She is also
accredited with the Association for Cognitive Analytic Therapy, as both a Cognitive Analytic Therapist (CAT) and a Supervisor. She is also trained in Eye Movement, Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) for treating trauma, as well as Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Mindfulness, Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT), and skills-based approaches such as Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Structured Clinical Management (SCM). The approach used in therapy is individually tailored to the client's needs and preferences, as well as being guided by the evidence base for specific psychological difficulties. When it's helpful, different models of therapy can be integrated or blended to get the best outcome for the client.

In addition to working with clients in private practice, Charlotte continues to practice within the NHS as a Consultant in Community Mental Health. She continues to see clients for therapy and supervise colleagues, whilst also leading a psychology service. Charlotte is committed to improving mental health services and improving the lives of those who use them.
