About me

Dr Julian Emmanuel is a renowned consultant endocrinologist based in Caterham. His areas of expertise include obesity, hypocalcaemia, pituitary gland disorders, thyroid disorders, parathyroid, and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

Dr Emmanuel completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Liverpool, attaining distinctions and earning a scholarship in histology. He completed his postgraduate endocrinology training at University College London and then specialised in obesity as a medical research council fellow, obtaining a PhD in obesity.

He then went on to spend six years at St Bartholomew's Hospital medical obesity clinic as the obesity physician, and pioneered the adoption of combination medical therapy for obesity in the UK. His work in this area has undergone peer-review and has also been disseminated to an international audience.

Dr Emmanuel has a number of high-impact journal articles on endocrinology, the treatment of obesity, and general internal medicine. He remains an active researcher in these fields. At Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, Dr Emmanuel undertakes thyroid, pituitary, parathyroid, and adrenal disease care, working in partnership with multidisciplinary teams at SASH, St George's Hospital London/Brighton Hospital, and Imperial Healthcare London.
