About me
He was educated in South London (Downside School, Purley) and Surrey (Caterham School)
Basic Medical Training
Simon studied medicine at the University Of Wales College Of Medicine from 1986 until 1991.
He went on to complete his basic surgical training in hospitals throughout South Wales whilst working to achieve Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons.
He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1998.
He entered the All Wales Orthopaedic training programme for specialist training in Orthopaedics in 1999 and passed the Intercollegiate Board exam in Orthopaedics in 2004.
From 2004 to 2005 for his final year of training Simon undertook the Villars R Marshall Lower limb Arthroplasty and Arthroscopy Fellowship at Flinders University Teaching Hospital in Adelaide, South Australia.
This public sector fellowship focused on hip and knee replacement as well as revision surgery both of the hip and the knee. Arthroscopic surgery of the knee included all basic knee problems as well as cruciate ligament reconstruction.
The fellowship had a major commitment to primary hip and knee surgery as well as revision surgery with this being performed at the Repatriation Hospital in Daw Park, Adelaide.
It also maintained a commitment to trauma surgery covering all aspects of acute trauma and fractures of all parts of the body.
Simon was appointed as an NHS Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics at Northampton General Hospital in April 2005 and remained there until 2014.
Simon commenced an honorary contract as an NHS consultant in West Herts until his formal appointment in April 2016.
Simon has been established in private practice at the Three Shires Hospital, Northampton since 2005. His work there reflects all aspects described in his website.
Since 2017 Simon has had practicing privileges at the One Hatfield Hospital in Hatfield were he also offers the same private operations and services to patients
He specialises in joint replacement of the hip and knee including both primary and revision surgery. He undertakes knee keyhole surgery (arthroscopy), cartilage (meniscal) surgery also to complement his practice.
