About me
I am the Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist at the Royal Brompton Hospital and Harefield Hospital.
I am one of the few specialists working in heart and lung psychiatry in the UK.
As the psychiatrist for the largest specialist heart and lung centre in the UK, I have extensive experience in assessing and treating mental health difficulties in people with physical health problems, particularly acute and chronic heart and lung conditions. This includes adjustment to physical illness and depression and anxiety in people with heart attack, heart failure, congenital heart disease, asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis, interstitial lung disease and heart or lung transplants.
I studied Medicine at the University of Cambridge, where I also obtained my intercalated degree in Physiology and Psychology with First Class Honours. I was awarded multiple prizes and scholarships, including the Darwin Prize in Natural Sciences, Rapaport Prize in Medical Sciences and a Bachelor scholarship from Christ's College, Cambridge.
I undertook my core psychiatry training in North West London, achieving Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2017. I completed my higher General adult psychiatry training on the prestigious Maudsley Training Programme, with specialist experience in liaison psychiatry at Guy's Hospital, diabetes psychiatry at King's College Hospital, perinatal psychiatry, early intervention in psychosis, the National ADHD and Autism service, and National Psychosis services. I hold a Certificate of Completion of Training in General psychiatry from the General Medical Council, with specialist endorsement in Liaison psychiatry.
I have a strong interest in Medical Education. I was a Leadership and Education Fellow with Health Education England Kent, Surrey and Sussex, improving the quality of postgraduate psychiatry training in Surrey. I went on to work as a Fellow in Medical Education and Honorary Lecturer at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education with Distinction from the University of Cambridge and a Master of Science in Healthcare Leadership and Commissioning with Distinction from Brighton and Sussex Medical School. I am a Firm Head and Educational Supervisor for undergraduate medical students at King's College London and an Educational Supervisor for postgraduate resident psychiatrists on the Maudsley Training Programme.
I have published several articles, including a national survey of adaptations to undergraduate psychiatry teaching during the pandemic. I have also presented at international conferences such as the European Congress of Psychiatry and Royal College of Psychiatrists International Congress.
