About me
Miss Thomson has successfully completed her comprehensive orthopaedic surgery training in the Midlands, underscoring her unwavering commitment to advancing her proficiency in the medical field. She earned her degree from the esteemed University of Leicester, embarking on a rigorous educational journey dedicated to acquiring the requisite skills and knowledge in orthopaedic surgery.
She is currently based in Sheffield, but also works both publicly in Rotherham General Hospital and Montague Hospital, and her private foot and ankle surgery through Thornbury (Circle health) in Sheffield and Park hill (Ramsey Health) and Doncaster giving patients access across the Yorkshire region.
Miss Thomson further enhanced her expertise through a series of distinguished fellowships, including those focused on foot and ankle under the mentorship of the past president of BOFAS; Miss Patricia Allen. Notably, she was awarded the prestigious Andrew Wines Fellowship in Sydney, Australia, receiving the Gold BOFAS travelling fellowship in recognition of this. Her fellowships encompassed a comprehensive scope of foot and ankle care, including the adept management of sports injuries in professional athletes. Additionally, Miss Thomson pursued specialized training in polytrauma management at the Queen Elizabeth in Birmingham and engaged in humanitarian work in Gwagwalada, Nigeria during her training.
Demonstrating a profound interest in medical education, Miss Thomson developed an educational app for medical students and trainees, contributing significantly to skill enhancement. She served as an honorary lecturer at the University of Leicester and currently holds the position of examiner at the ON orthopaedic FRCS VIVA course. She is the lead for resident doctors within orthopaedics at Rotherham General Hospital. Miss Thomson has made notable contributions to orthopaedic literature, with numerous published articles and book chapters under her name. She currently is the national Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity lead for the British Foot and Ankle Society.
Equipped with a robust education and diverse training, as an orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeon Miss Thomson is able to manage a broad spectrum of issues; arthritis in the toes, foot and ankle, sports injuries, ankle joint replacements, tendinopathies, forefoot conditions, bunions, flat feet, high arches, trauma, and the application of minimally invasive hindfoot surgery.
