About me
I work as a consultant upper GI Surgeon & clinical governance lead in General Surgery at North Manchester Hospital, Manchester Foundation NHS Trust.
I receive regular feedback on doctify and iwantgreatcare. I continuously reflect on my feedback from patients, to improve the quality of my clinical practice.
I specialise in Laparoscopic benign upper GI & emergency General Surgery. I perform Upper GI endoscopy (gastroscopy), groin and abdominal wall hernia repairs (both laparoscopic and open) and gallbladder (laparoscopic cholecystectomy) surgeries at my NHS and private practices. I also routinely perform anti-reflux operations / Nissen's & Toupet's Fundoplication & laparoscopic repair of Giant Para-oesophageal hernias / Intra-thoracic stomachs.
I am the director of the Royal College of Surgeons' accredited McEvedy's Hands-on Laparoscopic Groin Hernia Repair Course at North Manchester Hospital. I am a Surgical & Endoscopy trainer & the previous lead for Clinical Mortality at North Manchester Hospital. I am the regional co-representative for Northwest Mersey patch for AUGIS (Association of Upper GI Surgeons of UK).
I also work with the General Medical Council as a performance assessor in regulatory investigations. I hold several leadership roles with the national surgical societies (NHSR Chair & BBUGSS Rep for Northwest)
I have parallel interest in Medical Law, Ethics, Biological Research, Undergraduate & Postgraduate Surgical training. I am Bond Solon Certified in Investigative Law, Best practice, Report-writing, & Courtroom skills. I am also an Honorary Senior Lecturer for Medical Education with Manchester University.
I have held previous honorary teaching positions with Universities of Sheffield, Liverpool and Warwick.
