About me

Mr Szigethy is an experienced Consultant ENT Surgeon with over 31 years of clinical practice across both NHS and private healthcare settings. He specialises in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of ear, nose, and throat conditions, with a particular focus on nasal airway and sinus disorders. He has been working within Practice Plus Group since 2014, developing a high-volume ENT practice in the South West and performing over 300 procedures annually.

He has extensive expertise in general ENT surgery, with a strong subspecialist interest in nasal airway surgery and endoscopic sinus procedures. His practice includes functional nasal obstruction correction, chronic sinusitis management, and minimally invasive sinus surgery. He also treats a wide range of paediatric ENT conditions, including adenoidectomy, tonsillectomy, and grommet insertion.

In addition, Mr Szigethy performs laryngology procedures such as micro-laryngoscopy for voice and airway conditions, rhinology procedures including nasal polyps and recurrent nosebleeds, and skin lesion excision with reconstruction where required. He also provides allergy assessment within an ENT-focused clinical setting.

Experience and Background

Mr Szigethy graduated from the Medical School of Szeged in Hungary and completed his specialist surgical training through the Hungarian National Specialist Board, achieving certification in 1998. His postgraduate training was undertaken across several leading teaching hospitals in Hungary, including centres in Szombathely, Debrecen, Pecs, Szeged, and Budapest.

He holds an MD from Szent-Gyorgyi Albert University of Medicine and an MBA from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. He later joined Practice Plus Group Hospital, Shepton Mallet in 2014, where he continues to deliver a high-volume ENT practice.

He has also been awarded the Markusovszky Award for research in sarcoidosis and remains actively engaged in ongoing ENT education and professional development at both national and international level.

Clinical Interests

Mr Szigethy has a particular interest in nasal airway surgery, endoscopic sinus surgery, and minimally invasive approaches to chronic sinus disease. He is also actively involved in research and education within ENT, with a long-standing focus on improving patient outcomes through evidence-based practice.

Alongside his clinical work, he has developed an interest in digital health and is currently undertaking postgraduate study in digital marketing, with a focus on digital healthcare applications and patient-facing technology.
