About me
I am a Consultant General and Transplant Surgeon based in Edinburgh. In my private practice at Spire Murrayfield and Spire Shawfair Park, I assess and treat hernias, gallstones and gallbladder disease, abdominal pain, and lumps and bumps for insured and self-paying patients.
I perform laparoscopic (keyhole) and open repair for abdominal wall and groin hernias, including inguinal, femoral, umbilical, paraumbilical, epigastric, incisional and recurrent hernias. For gallstone disease, I perform laparoscopic cholecystectomy (keyhole removal of the gallbladder). I also treat lipomas, skin cysts and other lumps and bumps, and assess patients with abdominal pain who may need further investigation.
I was appointed as an NHS consultant at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh in 2019, where I work as a liver transplant surgeon and as part of the specialist hernia and abdominal wall reconstruction team. I completed my surgical training in Edinburgh, with specialist experience in transplantation, biliary surgery and hernia surgery, and spent time visiting surgical centres across the UK, Europe and the US.
I hold a PhD in regenerative medicine from the University of Edinburgh and continue to carry out research focused on improving surgical outcomes. I have published research in The Lancet and other specialist journals. I aim to provide clear, evidence-based advice, with treatment recommendations tailored to each patient's symptoms, priorities and circumstances.
