About me
I am an integrative therapist qualified and practising since 1998 and accredited with BACP since 2011.
Therapeutic work has been my main focus since 2007, including running a private practice since 2014, Employer Assisted Programme work and community based/primary care funded counselling. I also have over 20 years' experience of other helping roles including teaching and community development in both community care and children and family settings.
Areas of interest
As a generic counsellor I have worked with a wide range of difficulties and with adults of all ages and backgrounds. An area which I have worked with alot is trauma, both single incident and complex, arising from adverse experiences in childhood.
'Integrative' therapy prioritizes the value of building a trusting, collaborative relationship with your counsellor over any single theory or method, though it also brings together different therapeutic approaches (cognitive, emotion focused, insight or 'past-present connection'-based) in a flexible response to individual need. 'Integrative' therapy is a holistic approach to emotional well-being and also refers to increasing awareness of how emotions, thoughts, sensations and behaviour are linked for a greater sense of personal wholeness and the freedom to choose differently.
