About me

I qualified in 1984 from Dow Medical College Karachi, Pakistan. I started my postgraduate training in the UK in 1986. I acquired broad base general surgical training in all general surgical disciplines for several years in various UK centres. My specialist Vascular Surgical training was in the Southwest region.

I have been working as a consultant since 2000.I have an extremely busy General and Vascular Surgical practice. In the West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust, I work with team of vascular surgeon and interventional radiologists to provide high quality complex vascular and endovascular treatments for aortic aneurysm, carotid disease and peripheral vascular disease. My outcome data is published by Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland, with good outcomes.

I provide treatment for acute surgical admissions and carry out a large number of keyhole gall bladder and hernia operations along with other general surgical procedures.
I am the lead Thyroid Surgeon for the West Herts NHS Trust and perform a large number of thyroid operations with very good results as shown by the National BAETS Database.

I have established modern treatments of varicose veins at West Herts Hospitals and Spire Harpenden Hospital. I carry out one of the largest number of radiofrequency ablation and foam injections sclerotherapy treatments in the country. I also have experience in other treatments including Laser and Glue treatments for varicose veins.

In addition to my clinical work I have held key management posts including Research and Ethics Committee, chairman of MSC, Clinical Director for General Surgery and Divisional Director for Surgery in West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust.
