About me
As a leading consultant specialising in advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, my primary focus is on the diagnosis and management of colorectal conditions, with a particular emphasis on endoscopy and colonoscopy. My expertise extends to the effective treatment of bowel troubles, including haemorrhoids, fissures, and fistulas, using the latest advancements in these areas. I am also skilled in a range of general surgical procedures, performed laparoscopically where possible. This includes the treatment of various hernias (abdominal, incisional, inguinal, umbilical, femoral), gallstone and gallbladder disease, pilonidal sinuses, and other lumps and bumps.
Certified in endoscopy, including colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy, I am adept at identifying and managing a range of bowel diseases. I specialise in the handling of complex colon polyps and the early detection and treatment of rectal cancer, including proficiency in Trans-anal Minimally Invasive Surgery (TAMIS). My training also covers single incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS) for select cases.
In addition to my focus on colorectal health, I treat benign bowel conditions such as diverticular disease and functional bowel diseases, including IBS, constipation, and diarrhoea. My expertise in managing rectal bleeding and haemorrhoids is backed by comprehensive training and experience.
My medical training was predominantly in the East Midlands region, with specialist training at Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham. I earned my CCST (Certificate of Completion of Specialty Training) and completed a specialist colorectal fellowship at Queens Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. My appointment as a Consultant at UHDB (University Hospital of Derby and Burton) was a significant milestone in my career. During my fellowship, I also gained expertise in managing pelvic floor problems, including incontinence and rectal prolapse.
Currently, I serve as a Consultant at Walsall Manor Hospital, with a special interest in colorectal cancer diagnosis and surgery. My commitment extends to complex surgeries for inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, underscoring my dedication to comprehensive colorectal health care.
