About me
With experience over 8 years of working with children and adults as a chartered psychologist, I specialise in working with people who have experienced trauma and who may be having difficulties with managing emotion and/or struggling to navigate interpersonal relationships. I am trained in helping people identify repeated patterns of behaviour and enjoy working with them to develop understanding of how these relate to early experiences, early attachment relationships and unmet emotional needs.
My primary approach is Schema Therapy, and I adopt a relational approach to therapy where my main goal is to establish a safe and authentic connection with the person coming for therapy. I have experience of working therapeutically with people presenting with different areas of need such as personality difficulties, low mood, post-traumatic stress disorder (including dissociation), hopelessness and suicidal ideation, addiction and self-harm. I have experience in forensic settings which means I am skilled in understanding risky behaviours and work with children and adults who may have had violence committed against them or may have been violent towards others. I aim provide a warm, empathic and non-judgemental space for people to collaboratively explore the meaning behind their behaviours, before establishing healthier coping mechanisms that help people to move forward with your life.
